FREEFALLIN'
A personal story inspired by real life.
Stories inspired by my life, my imagination... and everything in between.
One of my stories is an account of something that actually happened to me.
Others started with nothing more than a random thought... “Oh wow... that's a great idea! I better write that one down for later.”
And some just wrestled with my imagination, refusing to stay imprisoned in my head until they eventually fought their way out kicking and screaming and landed on a written page.
Whatever story of mine brought you here today, I hope it captivates you, makes you smile, keeps you turning pages, and stays with you long after you've closed the book.
Thanks for stopping by.

Turning the Page
People often ask me what's next.
The truth is, I have more ideas than I'll probably ever have time to write.
Some are only a few notes scribbled on a piece of paper. Others are already taking shape one chapter at a time.
Over the next several years, I hope to share a wide variety of other things I'm working on. Some are nothing more than a few thoughts that popped into my head and were written down for later. Others are further along, with outlines and chapters beginning to take shape.
I'm excited to one day bring them all to the page and share them with you. They include another suspense novel, a heartfelt story about family, love and loss, an epic science fiction trilogy, a few children's books that I think will be a lot of fun, a cookbook for people who appreciate great food without spending hours in the kitchen, and even a book of poetry inspired by the journey we all share through life.
The next story on that list is ECHO, a techno-thriller currently in progress. I'm writing it now, and I can't wait for the day it's ready to leave my desk and find its way onto your bookshelf.

contact@rbmathieson.comA Personal Story Inspired by Real Life
This story isn't inspirational in any traditional sense. It's not a victory lap after conquering an illness, nor is it a tear-jerking memoir about family, friends, or second chances at life.
It's a blunt, honest, sometimes funny story about something that really happened to me. More than anything, it's a story about blatant ignorance—willful, well-intentioned, everyday ignorance—and the price it can quietly demand.
I spent most of my adult life treating doctors like an inconvenience and believed my own health was something that could always wait because it just didn't seem important at the time.
What began as a perfectly normal day quickly became a frightening descent into critical care, hard lessons, and the humbling realization that ignoring the little red flags my body had been giving me was definitely the wrong call.
Written with honesty, humour, and a healthy dose of self-inflicted stupidity, FREEFALLIN' is my wake-up call for anyone who still believes that feeling fine is the same thing as being fine.
If my mistakes convince even one person to take their health a little more seriously, then every page was worth writing.
A PARANORMAL THRILLER
SEE follows the twists and turns in the life of a man who built a simple life for himself, only to have fate grant him an extraordinary ability that sends his life spiraling into chaos.
Cooper Burns had built a simple life that he understood, appreciated, and never took for granted. He had a successful business, a woman he loved, and a best friend who had stood beside him through thick and thin since childhood.
In an instant, though, a devastating accident changed everything about Cooper's life that he had grown to appreciate.
After being electrocuted on a job site and left fighting for his life, Cooper awakens to a reality that no longer made sense. Vivid visions of a covered body lying on a metal table in a morgue haunted him. Night after night the same dream returned, revealing a little more of the person's identity each time. Only one question continued to torment him as his visions got longer and more frequent. Who was lying under that sheet? Was it someone he knew? Someone he loved? A stranger? Him?
As the answer eluded him, his visions took an unexpected turn and he found himself as the only audience member watching a young girl being abducted. As this new vision intensified, Cooper found himself drawn into a mystery far darker than anything he could have ever imagined. Joined by his girlfriend Tamsin, his friend Max, and Detective Elizabeth Marquez, they raced to uncover the truth and save a little girl before it was too late.
As clues began to align, Cooper realized he was chasing more than fragments of a dream. Something was guiding him that defied explanation, and he was determined to find the answer to a mystery where fate, destiny, and unimaginable dangers collide.
But one question always remained in the back of Cooper's mind. Was this newfound ability of his a gift... or a curse?
A Story of Love, Loss, and Impossible Possibility
After ten years together, six of them married, Corbin and Brynn Blake shared the kind of love most people spend a lifetime searching for. They laughed together, dreamed together, and built a life that felt unshakable. It seemed as though nothing could ever tear them apart...
...until tragedy did.
After a devastating accident on their anniversary took Brynn from him, Corbin spiraled into grief, withdrawing from the world around him. Then, one night, mysterious lights illuminated skies across the globe, a phenomenon even science couldn't explain. At that same time, Corbin felt an inexplicable pull drawing him back to a hilltop in the country that he and Brynn once cherished.
When he arrived at the hill, a strange column of light descended into the field below from the colorful skies above. With curiosity guiding him, he walked down the hill and into the light, losing consciousness briefly and changing his life forever.
When he awoke, the world appeared the same, until he realized it wasn't.
The more he looked, the more he realized things were different. He was unknown to his closest friends, yet strangers knew his face. Co-workers that worked beside him for years were replaced by people who seemed to know him well that he had never seen in his life. He questioned his sanity when he received a shocking phone call from a loved one who had died over a decade before.
The more he investigated, the more Corbin realized that his whole existence—and everything that truly mattered to him—had been erased and rewritten into this new version of his reality. The biggest bombshell, though, was that Brynn, the love of his life, the woman whose loss destroyed him, was alive and well, living a completely different life beside someone else.
Trapped in an alternate reality that remembered his face but not his past, Corbin is forced to confront an impossible question: If two people are truly meant to be together, can their love survive even the boundaries of an alternate universe... if fate intervenes?
Love brought them together once. Fate may be about to do it again.
